Installing Groovix to the Hard Drive

  • Insert the Groovix DVD and boot up the machine.
  • You should see a Groovix menu with a timer counting down from 60 seconds. Use the arrow keys to move down to the first automatic installation option.
  • Hit the F6 key, and then hit ESC to dismiss the popup that appears. At the end of the line you will see PAC_LABEL=

You can type text in to give this machine a name that will assist later in distinguishing the machines. This name must be just letters, numbers, underscores, or dashes. For example, you could make it read PAC_LABEL=opac1 or PAC_LABEL=inet-7 .

  • Hit Enter. The installation process will begin and complete in roughly 30 minutes. When it is complete the machine will reboot and boot from hard drive instead of the DVD. You can remove the DVD from the drive anytime after that point. If you hit the eject button on the DVD drive and it doesn't eject, it may still be doing the initial installation from DVD so just let it finish.
  • You can now log in. You can use username gvuser and your staff password even if you are using SIP or guest authentication.
  • Optionally, set a Static IP Address after logging in. After reboot your machine will be complete and ready to use
